93 and 94 CS fake oil gauge resolution, on how to convert..

i've had about enough of this..... what you all need to do rather then destroying a good cluster is just go buy the SENDER for the cars 88-93 the oil pressure gauge works in my 88 and i have a 94 cluster in the car :bash:

 

I think you are mistaken. A '94 cluster will have the said resistor in the cluster, and will always read 5/8s full. I bet that's what yours does, right?

 

It doesn't matter what kind of sender/switch you have got in there, as your cluster is completely incapable of reading properly anyways. I think you missed the purpose of these past four pages. :)

:lol: No mine actually moves from 1/2 way at start up to 1/8-1/4 when it gets warmed up so i don't know what the problem is with your's but mine works it just doesn't like the 2.8's oil pressure getting that low :?

turby said it came out of a 94 cutlass supreme it doesn't have the numbers on the oil pressure.... so i figure it must be a 94 cause thats what i was told it came out of :shrug:

Does it have the little "shadows" in the black part of the cluster for the airbag and security lights? If it doesn't, it's no '94 cluster. Could be a '92, since Never Satisfied's '92 doesn't have numbers either.

it does have the air bag and security lights i want to know which pin operates the security light so i can make it light up with the alarm system.....

Cool now i don't have to do anything as far as the alarm is concerned to make it obvious the car has an alarm. Question is do I want a blinking led or a solid burning one? I know the blinking one will last longer.

After adding the UB3 into my 94' of course my oil pressure is also pegged at full. I bought a oil pressure sender from a 91 3.4 DOHC cutlass (GM part) and will install it tomorrow. We shall see the outcome!

that would be the proper fix :) remember... the gauge sender is about twice as long as the dolt light sender!

both of you are correct... specifically...

 

the info I NEED... is to know whether the gauge type sender will interfere with the functioning of the check guages light, in the cluster with a fake guage.

 

and when i say fake gauge it is actually a real gauge that works... but on a compressed scale... so a real sender will make it work... but not read true. this is the issue that you are experiencing cutlsp and not really an indication of low oil pressure... as a matter of fact.... when the gauge reads about 1/8 does it turn the check light on???

 

UPDATE!!!!! I FORGOT.... to mention... the difference in not in the resistor I had mentioned before... it has to do with how/the number of windings for the two parts of the coil windings.... But I haven't got a measurement of the windings resistance yet.... but I did acquire a gauge sender.

btw, I located the 92 cs parts two weeks ago in columbus with help from inanimatedecay and birdman... (thanks for the help!)
