95oldsVan
The 91 Lumina 3.1 V6,if you had to remove the head, rocker arms and pushrods, change valve seals, new gaskets, etc,do you have to set valve lash when its done or is it self adjusting after its tightened down? Didnt see this in my book. Thanks for any info.
Crazy K
Wouldn't valve lash adjustment be necessary only on engines with solid lifters? the hyrdaulic lifters mean no lash adjustment necesary. and a side question.... a perplexion.... doesn't valve lash adjustment risk leaving the nuts too loose???? dbtk2
Stock rockers you just tighten down to torque spec. Some aftermarket rocker arms will need the valve lash set. But from the sounds of it your setup is stock so just tighten to 18ft.lbs. Shawn
95oldsVan
Thanks everyone, thats the info I was looking for. For the person that asked, some engines still need the lash done, usually with the V8 engines as far as I can recall.Even with the hydraulic cams, etc.
