Front Swaybar - How does it come out?

On a 96 Grand Prix sedan.

The back looks like you just unbolt some kind of endlinks then the mounts and drop it, however the front isn't quite like that. I want to get a 34mm front bar but first I want to know how it comes out.

Thanks.

There's a bracket on either front control arm, then two more brackets on top of the subframe behind the motor. I've never tried to attack those with a motor in the car, but they don't look easy.

too bad you can't just pull it out the side :( the LAST thing i want to do is lower the subframe just to get it out. i have the 34mm front bar sitting in my garage waiting to go in.

not to hijack...but if the engine/trans were not in the engine bay would that make it possible for the front sway bar to come right out?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Unless the rack is in the way.

Damnit.. I forgot it sat behind the rack.

my old pics I have, it looks like with the tie rods out of the way it shouldn't be that bad to shimmy out... probably easier to pull it out the driver's side, because of where the steering linkage is.

I dunno though.. might have to lower the subframe a tad to pull it through.

i pulled my 34mm bar out the passenger side of the donor '91 DOHC International coupe....but the car was wrecked in front so maybe some stuff was of the way making it possible....i can't remember.
