Guest RedCutlassSL Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 Our cars are young enough that they all have a list of problems. Mine is that shudder during right turns, the foglights don't work, and the tranny downshifting problem which is getting fixed on Monday. Whats your list?[/i] Quote

Not bad for a 13/14yrs old car. I already replaced since last april: coils, spark plugs, plugs 2 X's, ecu, water pump, thermostat, radiator, vac mod, tps, aic, intake assembly, injectors, upper intake manifold gasket, tb gasket, all 4 shocks, all 4 calipers, all 4 rotors, pads all around, replaced rusted to hell mufflers with straight pipe, rear bearing plates, gm strut braces, bent gold lace rims, drivers window switchs, arm rest assembly, installed bov. Car was $2400. Quote

ismellrealbad Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 um lets see mostly interior stuff. -i blew up my amp -the hood release somehow is missing the plastic cover and looks ugly as sin -the clear lens over the guage cluster is scratched to shit it looks so ugly and i cannot find a 94-96 cluster for my life....or a 94-96 gp for that matter -the mounting kit for my car sucks. the head unit is attached with 1 screw because the brackets for my car just do not fit properly -and finally this really wierd problem with my temp guage that i think i had explained elswhere. at random times until, and sometimes even after the engine is up to temp the guage will quickly rise to close to 260, hang there for a minute (at this point heat will not blow hot) and then after a while it will quickly lower to the correct reading, heat will now blow out hot. i have to remmeber to bring my camera with me and take a video. -oh yea that keless entry buzzing problem which affects my passenger door lock button thats everything. ...anyone with these parts or suggestions pleas reply or PM me Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 Mechanically, my cars need: 88 Cutlass Supreme - Ball joint (maybe), tranny leaks. 89 Cutlass Supreme - Needs new tires & wheels, tranny leaks, needs stereo reinstalled. 90 Turbo Grand Prix - Needs O2 sensor, turbo blanket, ABS problem. 94 Cutlass Supreme - Funny rear-end clunking when cornering. All run and drive fine though. All need little cosmetic things, door dings fixed, some paint fixed, paint chips fixed, interior trim pieces replaced, etc. Quote
gimp19 Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 rear strut problems, peeling paint, minor rust, stupid base model digital dash acts up somtimes, still have to fix my warped dash. I think thats about it. Quote
Tim Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 92 GP SE 3.1 156K+ miles I've had most all of the little issues described on this and the previous board. Smoking turn signal switch, warped rotors, alternator, erroneous check gauges light, fog lamp lenses etc. Currently, the transmission won't shift correctly. From a standing start, expecially when well warmed up, the tranny shifts through all of the gears very quickly right to OD regardless of whether I'm flooring it or not. It seems like it can't take full advantage of the power band. Doesn't seem to downshift correctly either. Manual shifting seems to work OK. I've checked the TV cable and it seems OK. I don't know if I have the 4t60 or 4T60-E. Any ideas? Tim Oh yeah, the odometer and trip odometer intermitantly don't advance. (move) Mostly OK in the morning when weather is cool. Suspect a bad electrical connection that expands when heated up a little. Cluster was replaced for the check gauges light problem years ago and that's when the odometer problem seemed to start. Quote
LukeZ34 Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 Hmm.. where to start. skalor Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 '89 TGP -dead tranny, previous owner put in regular 4T60 -dented hood & trunk -rear bumper cover has a hole for a hitch from previous owner -front lower valance is falling off -drivers side door rubs the front fender -the car is 2 different shades of black from previous owner(repainted but not metallic) -ripped driver's seat, dash pad doesn't click in on passenger side anymore -headliner fallen -abs pump cycles everytime you push the brakes(damn powercrapper III) Basically that car needs a ton of body work done to it in general, but at least the car was only $990. I'm looking at getting a flawless black '89 TGP that I saw for sale yesterday that I'm going to drive today Quote
1trucavalier Posted March 27, 2003 Report Posted March 27, 2003 regardless of most of these problems to fix a similiar import with even junkyard parts is wayyyy more $$$$ With all that I have done so far I have spent only about $1500. The parts that cost the most were injectors $220, ramcharger fan $80, and 17" rims. I got lucky though trak auto was going out of business so I got every part listed other than the performance ones for $175 Quote
