Sorry if this sounds rude but where has anyone ever heard of a cheep turbo install? I never have, well at least that worked correctly.

Also, if you turbo-charge a N/A car what do you do for a computer? Would you have to get a new one to deal with the pressure of the air changing the sensor readings or would a stock computer work with a turbos boost pressure?

i'd probably go through http://www.turbosunleashed.com the owner posts alot over on TD.com and he's a good guy with a good reputation.

might be a site that caters to the Turbo Dodge crowd but it really doesn't matter. choices are limited though. in my case i'd be going with a standard (Ford) flanged T3/T04E 50-trim stage-3 .63 A/R turbine.

$695

that being said i still have alot of research to do before choosing a turbocharger.

i have and i've done it to my Cutlass. the turbo project was probably less that $1000 and the results more than surpassed my expectations. however, the parts were used of course and it was a system that was already designed for my car (for the most part).

really depends. i'm using the stock computer with a custom burnt TGP EPROM. otherwise you could keep the stock computer and use stuff like an FMU, timing retard box, Megasquirt system etc etc. i have NO experience with any of that stuff though.

Well, since he has an L36 car that means its OBDII which means he can't just change an EPROM. It isn't any harder though because all he has to do is unplug his PCM and plug in one from DHP that is meant to work with a turbo setup. Obviously this isn't too hard to do.

A turbo kit could probably be made for this car for around the same price yours was for your cutlass. Yeah, he can't just buy parts that are meant specifically for his engine, but if he can weld or can get a good deal from someone who can weld, then he can fab up all the exhaust piping himself, which would obviously only cost what materials were. Then an Intercooler (if he wants one), plus charge pipes, oil/coolant lines and stuff like that, then obviously the computer like was already said, a boost controller, and then the turbo. I'd personally go with a new or rebuilt one, but he could probably pick up a good used one and still keep it pretty affordable. I think it can be done for $1k if you want to take some time and do a lot of stuff yourself, it could be easily done for $1500 IMO. But personally the cartuning kits are badass and I'd buy one of those, or at least make my setup similar to those, but for $4k I can understand you looking to go a different way.

if you're lookin' to just fab somethin' together, and make it work, you can often get turbochargers form junkyards for 'round the $50.00 mark ... I often thought about doing this, gettin' everything fab'd up, and plumed, then getting the new turbocharger - that way while I'm testing things like the oiling system, I won't smoke a new turbocharger.
