EviLette
For some reason... since I got the car... the blinker switch has not functioned properly. If I flip it on to blink, it will not blink. Occasionally the signal light will come on, but it stays on. The only way to operate the blinker is to switch it to the direction of the turn and pull BACK on the lever. The bright/dim function works, and the blinkers are all completely operational, it's just something in the blinker handle itself. I am wondering if this is a common problem among the GPs, and if not, does anyone have any idea what it might be? I've been told it is a steering column problem and I'll have to totally replace my steering column to fix it... but it may just need a new switch. I was TOLD it was a new switch when I got the car... but I found out after that, when i became employed by the guy I bought it from.. how much of a total sleazebag he was... Anyways... any ideas guys?

GutlessSupreme
If you have a bulb out it won't blink on it's own.. the whole "working when pulling slightly back on it" might kinda rule that out though. still, easy thing to check.. THe_DeTAiL3R
I've replaced the switch in both my 88 GP (when I had it) and my 95 GP when I got it. Both were around the 130k mile range... My symptoms were basically when you put it to turn left (mainly) it would stay solid. You'd have to make it blink manually by either moving it up/down or pulling back. The deal with the switch is the highbeams are part of it. When you pull back on the stock it's hard on the entire switch, causing it to wear out faster. Could be other things though too..
digitaloutsider
No, the switch is the common problem. The stalk is rarely part of the issue with symptoms like these.
White93z34
no, its not the stalk, i don't see how that could possably be it. its the switch itself, its fixable if you are willing to pull the steering wheel off and do a little bit of work,
THe_DeTAiL3R
its the switch itself, its fixable if you are willing to pull the steering wheel off and do a little bit of work, You can TRY to clean it /bend the contacts, but you'd be best to buy the switch anyways (keep the reciept) cause you very likely may need to replace it. White93z34
i don't know, now that i tore mine fully down and cleaned it, it works perfect. all i did was pull it apart, use paint thinner to clean all the contacts, slightly bend the "fingers" out and put a thin layer of dielectric grease over it all and reasemble it, and mine work awesome now. besides free sure beats the $60+ dollars for a brand new one. Technics
The signal switch assembly on my 94 Cutlass was replaced under a factory recall. You may want to check into this.
