Strecker25 Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 all 4 of my mounts are shot...i replaced the upper dogbones but from the looks of it theyre going to be destroyed in a week again because there is so much lower engine movement. how difficult is the job and does anyone have any experience with it? got quoted at like 300 to have them done. Thanks Quote
Prospeeder Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 from my understanding you just have to support the engine and unbolt and rebolt on the mounts, but i dunno where to support it Quote
1990lumina Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 My Haynes manual says to support it by putting a jblock of wood against the oil pan and then jacking it up as you need Quote
EviLette Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 There should be a hook place cast into the main part of the engine... it's what my mechanic hooked up to when he had to undo one of the motor mounts to rock the engine forward to change out plugs and a knock sensor on the rear of my 3.1... I'm pretty sure there are places like this on both sides of the engine... just mount it with a come-along and wrench it tight as you losen the bolt... that's what he did, anyways, and it worked out just fine.
