New struts, checklist

Since it's tax return season, we've decided to put some money in to replacing the original suspension components on the TGP.

I've decided to go with Monroe sensa-tracs, and have priced them the lowest at http://www.autopartsgiant.com

Part #

    73305 Front Strut Cartridge - $40.95 each

    71831 Rear Strut assembly - $51.89 each

    902941 Strut-Mate Bearing plate - $38.48 each

AK-43 Monroe Adapter Kit (lower bolts) - $4.83 each

The above parts is what I've priced out for replacement in all 4 corners, with new lower bolts on the rears, and new rear strut mounts (originals are shot).

My questions are:

For those that have replaced their OEM equipment with Monroe's, are the part numbers I have above correct? (they are Monroe's #'s)

What else should I consider replacing? I've never gotten too indepth with the suspension in these cars, so I don't know what's there to fail over time. I do know that one of our leaf spring rubber boots is gone. What's a good replacement for them?

I just replaced all four on mine with monroe sensa-tracs and umm... I dont remember what he did with the rear becuase I wasn't there... he said I should've gotten the plates and whatever but I didn't. On the front, all we replaced were the cartridges and it made a world of difference... like 45 bucks a piece at o'reillys...

Okay i did exactly what you are about to do, here is the part numbers and cost from my receipt.

MON 71831 (Rear Strut) 41.84

MON 902941 (Rear mounting Kit) 23.84

MON 73305 (Front Cartridge) $33.02

that was all bought with my moms boyfriends discount at allied auto parts.

my total was $214, i didnt replace the front strut mounts because they were already aftermarket and in great condition.

do yourself a favor have about 2 floor jacks, nd a helping hand. my car has the rear figure 8 bushing that holds up the spring and assembly. that thing is a pain in the ass to try and compress... i then realized i could disconect the rear trailing arm haha.

Awesome, thanks!

I'll look in to replacing the front strut mounts as well. Probably couldn't hurt since they are originals.

Not sure, maybe over spring break? That's March 20-26th for us. That's not set in stone though.

It'd be great to have the help though, so if sometime during spring break would work for you, let me know.
