z284pwr
Well, since we are having a hell of a time getting our new fuel lines to seal properly, we are starting to look at different things, anyways, this was brought to my attention after I was reading thru Brian P's for sale post.... http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36711 ... The fuel rail mentioned is a steel one with quick disconnct I think it was lines. Is this something to do with the screw on fitting section? Why I ask is I have a '90 Lumina fuel rail out in the garage the definitely has the fittings cast directly into the rail, however, the TGP lines are definitely different, they are much lighter colors and when I was removing the fuel line, the supply line fitting starting screwing with the line instead of just the line turning off.... Pictures of differences here.... TGP Fuel rail..definitely different, the line on the left there is what I'm talking about, the fitting section that you screw the line into started unscrewing with the line.... http://home.earthlink.net/~z284pwr/grand_prix/rail-001.jpg Lumina.... http://home.earthlink.net/~z284pwr/grand_prix/rail-004.jpg Its definitely 1 cast piece, no unscrewing here, I tried just to test, it just bent like crazy However, the return line appears the same on both? So is there a difference between the 2, I think they had the same part number on them though? No car thanks to fuel leaks is starting to suck, we have it down to just 1 line leaking, hoping for an ultimate fix, just clearing suspicions before we finalize..... Any input is appreciated...Thanks
Crazy K
It is the same part. sometimes those things unsrew easily, and sometimes they are frozen. I've had them come loose on my lumina. just the luck of the draw. and the part they are connected to is the fuel regulator. try getting new O-rings and lubbing them well. The O-rings into and out of the FPR are just fine, as well as the lines down below the Master Cylinder, its the other lines we are having problems with, they aren't stock, totally custom in fact, we are just trying to find a way of possibly getting an aftermarket o-ringed fitting to screw into the FPR lines and run stainless lines to fittings that the stock O-Ringed lines below the Master Cylinder run.... Yeah, its a little confusing with all this custom stuff. :? It looks a hell of a lot better and away from bad turbo heat which is scarey as well, we are getting close on it though. Hopefully we can get it. Anyways back again what you were saying about unscrewing, is this the actual line itself, or the FRP line coming off the Rail? Reason I ask going back to the Lumina fuel rail, there is no way the fitting on the FPR can be screwed in any way, its definitely 1 solid piece. If I could take the TGP one off, or had the desire to, i would check the difference, but the fitting on it, not the entire protruding thing from the FPR was unscrewing, just the last part, where the wrench would go on in dumb mans terms if that makes sense.....wow confusion is great... :? :x
Crazy K
I guess the proper terminology would be 'fitting'. the two items that bridge the gap between the regulator(the junction item between the fuel rails) and the fuel lines. They are removable, but your's are probably just corroded stuck. Remember that it wasn't milled as one peace, they were brought together later. And it you notice, they appear dimensionally the same
