Prospeeder
Whats the P/N for the Idle air control valve? My cars started surging every so often at idle, stalling at idle occasionally, and hard starting when warm, thinking this COULD be my problem, whats the P/N so i can see how much itll run me on GM Parts direct. Thanks!
THe_DeTAiL3R
I dunno... Heres napa http://napaonline.com/masterpages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=430&Keyword=IAC&KeywordCat=Idle+Air+Control+Valve&VehCode=Y I personally would maybe *snag* one from the junkyard... it's only 2 screws

THe_DeTAiL3R
They are torx. And all the IAC I've seen (from 95 Sunfire, to 88 GP, to 95 GP) have looked the same to me. Although I really have no idea if they are the same part. :loll:
3pt1lumina
T-10 I believe is what it is...but I'm not 100% sure. I got mine from Advance Auto... I put 9 (yes I said 9) in from Autozone and they didn't work. First one from Advance worked perfect. It's a GP Sorensen.
jdcutty
Actuall i do believe that it is a T25 that you need. T10 is extremely small. Did you try cleaning yours?

Never have had luck cleaning them... for $30 it's easier to replace. If you really need to know about the torx size, I can go find out. I think jdcutty is closer to being correct than I am. jdcutty
Never have had luck cleaning them... for $30 it's easier to replace. Meh....good point. I am about 95% sure that it is t25, I just had to move mine out of the way to change the TPS about a week and a half ago.
THe_DeTAiL3R
How it it easier to replace one than clean it? $30 for many people is at least 3hrs of work at their job, spraying a little TB cleaner on a IAC takes like 5min and there is a GOOD chance it will help... GP1138
The pin number is five.. as in five-finger discount. Junkyards most likely won't even charge you for the part, just put it in your pocket. Clean it really good, and then put it on your car. Most of the time, they just need cleaned, I've used WATER for God's sake.
3pt1lumina
Well by all means try cleaning it first. I tried cleaning mine but mine had a lean running issue...which led to cleaning not working. The cheap route is pull it, clean it and see what happens. I mean, it's not a hard job to do so might as well try it.
