bigdman Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 i have heard about swapping out the top end (upper intake, lower intake) from a 3100, onto a 3.1. i have the 3100 and i have started porting the upper intake, and i will port the lower intake to. i have deleted the egr and i am chaging the mounting plate for the throttle body, my dad has a machine shop so this shouldn't be too hard. but i was wondering if it is possible to swap the top ends or will i just be wasting time? and if possible how much of a power increase could i expect? sorry for the long post. GutlessSupreme Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 You need the heads, too. The intakes won't bolt up to the old ones, and even if they did gains would probably be low. From a full topend swap, I'd expect 15 hp or so. Pretty decent. Quote
bigdman Posted February 10, 2006 Author Report Posted February 10, 2006 oops, forget to say that i have the heads too. i have an entire 3100. but on one of the heads the exhaust valve bent from a broken cam. it's not bent too bad but it won't close. can i fix that or is the head garbage? GutlessSupreme Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I think chances are the head is ok, just replace the valve. But I'd have a shop check it. Quote
dbtk2 Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 You will like the gains of the swap but I recommend installing a cam at the same time. It should pretty much double your gains and will be well worth the extra cost and time. I never regret doing my topend swap, the power is awesome, the only time I wish I wouldn't have done it is the last 3 times my tranny blew up. Shawn Quote
