mr_merkur
So my roomate bought a 92 z34 with a blown head gasket. . .Its to be made a toy . Also I have a set of beretta gtz seats we think we will prolly put in there., but back to the subject at hand. We want to add some more spunk so were going to turbo it and a few other little goodies. So the question as goes since were in kind of a hurry to get this show on the road is should we bother investing the time and money into the 92 heads or is there a better year head we should scrounge up? As for head gaskets what are the most recomended, we want a thicker one preferable a reusable MLS of sorts or something along those lines. We already know this car is oging to be a money pit so hell lets roll with it. Sorry for the newbish question but he's gettin impatient to get a car running soon so he'll be able to hold his own when the tv8xr4 hits the streets this summer Thanks for the help in advance. Guest TurboSedan
nope not me, i got my Turbo STE from another member from Kansas. i traded him my '89 Lebaron GTS Turbo for it. you are only 2hrs from me. timg (owner of the Turbo DOHC Monte) is sometimes in Spearfish (parents) but lives in Denver. btw, was that TGP that was for sale a maroon STE? there used to be a guy here from Rapid City that owned a maroon Turbo STE. i don't know much about the 3.4 DOHC engine myself, but i'm sure others will chime in. Bossman429
Yeah, I think your first step is to get with Timg, his car makes me giggle. Very clean, and well done. Looks like that Merkur will have some big balls! I don't think I've ever seen one in person.
slick
Since you are wanting lower compression, keep your current heads. The 96-97 style will bump up your compression some, something you don't want. You can keep your style of upper and lower intake manifolds you have currently, or if your looking for higher rpm range of powerband, pick up the 96-97 intake manifolds. You will also need some other various parts with that as well. The GTZ seats will be a lot narrower than the current Z34 seats. And, the tracks are different. But, if you like them, more power to ya! mr_merkur
cool thanks for the info, what are some of you using for headgaskets?
mr_merkur
jjust a little update we got our hands on another 92 engine (3.4DOHC with a dead hole or two I dont remember), So now I have an extra set of heads to hog out , we will prolly hog these heads out pretty good and get some nice springs etc. Then I can can do a better job on the second set of heads , It will be nice having an extra engine to make the new intake system (were gonna attempt a 3 TB setup ). Now time to figure out what kinda runners we wanna use (long and skinny short and fat or what). Just figured I'd keep everyone up to date
