GutlessSupreme
210 / 3.4 = 61.765 HP/L i.e. a little more than 1hp/ci. not bad at all.
JakeMetz63
I believe the 54 Chevy was the first engine to make more than 1hp per ci
fastbird232
Wait...what did you want to know for? And for what it's worth, an engine that small should be making at least 1 hp/ci. It's the bigger V8s where that's more impressive. Of course, don't tell that to the GP GXP owners (.94 hp/ci).

And then the GXP owners remind you that their engine has a lot less moving parts in it and a timing chain not a belt meaning it should be way more reliable, and its only 2 valves per cylinder. And it still gets close to the same gas mileage the 3.4's do even though it makes close to 100hp more. And with a cam and heads they're making like 400hp... Of course, with their price tag I won't own one. Shawn
Tru2Chevy
I believe the 54 Chevy was the first engine to make more than 1hp per ci I thought it was the '57 vette with the 283/283 Fuelie motor? - Justin Edit - don't know where 287/287 came from.... herb427sc
I believe the 54 Chevy was the first engine to make more than 1hp per ci The Fuel Injected Corvette in 1957 was rated at 283 HP (283 cu in) The 54 Chevy was a BLUE FLAME 6 235 cu in Maybe 125 HP. As for only having two valves, the 364 ci LS2 makes 400 hp (1.09), the 345 ci LS6 makes 405 hp (1.17), and the 427 ci LS7 makes 500 hp (1.17), and they're all in the same engine family. Actually, if you use it's hp/ci ratio as a benchmark, the previous GTP (and current GT model) is pound-for-pound a more powerful engine, with the 260 hp L32 making 1.12 hp/ci.
