badassoldspower Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 Just a heads up for you guys, look foreward to seeing my car undergo a transformation this summer, Ive decided to do an egine swap, and im going with an L67 swap, yes I know many have done this, and its cliche', but i want a motor that doesnt have 151k on it for college, and I want performance. So with that being said, any nice comments are welcome, and I am still open to other ideas, Im partial to maybe a Turo Lq1. Let me know what you guys think. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 You already have OBD-II.. i'd say Turbo LQ1. You've got the most difficult part out of the way. Quote
Cam'ron Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 you can turbo boost a supercharged engine effectively? why not drop a 150shot of NAWZ while yer at it... i have never seen a turboed, and s/c engine, unless i am just not payin attention Quote
White93z34 Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 if you already had a LQ1 i'd say turbo it. but since you got a 3100, i think a L67 swap would be worthwhile if you have the money to throw at it. if money is an issue a LQ1 can be fun, and then boost it in the future. Quote

I meant swap in an L67, ditch the M90, and throw a turbo on.... Quote
J Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 i have never seen a turboed, and s/c engine, unless i am just not payin attention it's called twincharged Quote
jeremy Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 turbocharged L36... that was going to be recommendation Quote

THe_DeTAiL3R Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 I want to be the first 1st gen w-body with a turbo-3800. There are non other that I know of Although I'm kinda thinking of other engine swaps that would be easier and cheaper (drop in's like 3400 or 3.4DOHC possibly). Turbo 3800s will go through trannies like crazy. Quote
brianteel Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 actually there is already a turbo 96 GP.....i think it is loudgp on clubgp...... if you have the money and you want power do the car tuning kit with the 3800 4t65e combo. right out the box you can run 12s. if you want more info feel free to contact me. also i have alot of information on wiring and parts Quote

brianteel Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 even a stock trans is strong...it is launches that hurt them Quote
dbtk2 Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 even a stock trans is strong...it is launches that hurt them Yeah, stock trannies are plenty strong, but a built one should give you pretty much no problems at all. Shawn Quote

Do it man, I was thrilled when I did my swap and drove it for the first time. There wasn't much info back in 2002, but it wasn't hard at all. You might want to go for a 5-speed right from the start- the gear ratios of the 4T65E-HD are just terible-50MPH in first, 85MPH in 2nd. This summer my Cutlass will be the first twincharged/freon intercooled/282 Getrag W-body Cutlass out there...22PSI on the TP-38 Garrett Turo Quote
brianteel Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 the 4t653-hd with the 3.29 gears was very nice all around Quote
