So what if this guy wants to spend or ask questions. That is HIS RIGHT. Why do people feel the need to critize some one just because they do not agree. We ALL started somewhere, Had someone help us, mentor and tutor us. No one started just out of High school knowing it all. And if they claim that they did they are full of crap. I thought this forum is about a group of people with a common interest. But obviously like so many other things on the net that is incorrect. This seems to be a clickish forum of whiners. So now that this rant will prob. never get published. I will now step off of my soap box. If you have anything to add feel free to contact me and we can handle this as adults not just a bunch of kids in a sandbox!

Yes you are right, it IS a waste of money, I WILL agree with you 100% on this. We didn't go Gen III because mianly we wanted a direct swap. We were going for all out performance either, yes if we knew then what we know now it would have been different but all is good. I didn't spend the money for a bad ass race engine, I spent it on a GOOD reliable engine capable of taking the occasional beating and holding up together against boost. That and there is more aftermarket for a Gen II than a Gen III without going totally custom. Also, since our TGP isn't a race car, I kinda like the unique intake manifold writing on it 8) , I'll give up the far superior flowing heads/intakes for that.

yeah i want to keep my TGP plenum too! and the car is dependable as hell. besides the car is already fun x3 and i'm not looking for more power. i need to work on traction but i'm not going to spend money on a bigger turbo or 3x00 top end swap. i have alot of other (non car related) things to do. i have to admit though i would really like a FMIC but that will have to wait.

The 5spd yes, it does have an advantage to a point, but like you mentioned before, your W-Body 5spd Cutlass 1st and 2nd gear is ugly without proper throttle control correct? What is happening during this light throttle time, AT a dragstrip, you are loosing precious time, as those 2 gears are what get you moving. If you run at a drag strip, I'll bet your MPH is high for your ETs just for this fact

i agree with you completely! 'throttle control' is what i have to do right now. this two stage boost controller stuff would likely let me go WOT at the expense of limiting boost. two stage boost control is easy enough to do and cheap, but it's really only a band-aid fix for the 1st & 2nd gear ratio giving too much torque multiplication over what i'm already putting down. a Getrag 282 from an L-body would likely help alot but traction would probably still be enough of an issue that two stage boost control would be a requirement. i can't help but wonder what slicks would be like...even drag radials. i don't care though, 5-speed only for me. this is no dragstrip-only car and i like to row through the gears while pretending to carve up canyons like a C5 :D
