I think I know exactally where it is leaking. I would just cut the steel line behind the crimp and add a new longer rubber line. I ran into something similar on my 95 Z28 heater hose, about $4 fixed it in lieu of the $185 heater hose assy (both hoses were connected by a brace)

Need a general thread "EVERYTHING THATS WRONG WITH PROSPEEDER'S TGP"

I know that feeling sometimes... I was walking by a blue SE at the hospital yesterday and was doing the mental picking which parts I could use off of it thing...

(off topic) those blue SE's weren't bad looking

LOL!! I know, not too much is wrong, just like the line leaking, it stalling every now and then, now surging rarely, hard starts, and ABS light coming on randomly and disabling my ABS then just going away and working again

Still! Anyone know the part number, or name for these lines, or just cooler lines? If there more than 50$ i may go the ghetto route, LOL!

well there discontinued, and they ran a nationwide search, nothin, SOO this sucks, they said they would be able to repair it for me, me and my dad are gonna see if we can get a flaring kit, flare it and then just put a worm gear clamp on a rubber hose for the line

i sold those same tranny lines to Jeff M awhile ago...you might email him and ask about them. i don't think he really needed them; i just sold them to him because i wanted them to eventually go to a TGP owner in need. like yourself. otherwise i would have thrown them out.

You might try taking the hose into a Hose Shop and they might be able to put a new hose on it for you. They "uncrimp" the steel line and pull out the old hose and recrimp a new one on. The shop here fixed a PS line on my Acura that way because of the pressure, the trans cooler doesnt run as much pressure so you can get away with the clamps. Either way, don't forget to upgrade to braided stainless!

Same here, a complete set and a cooler, off of a STE that I found in a salvage. Only thing about that is how long will they last...

I have a set of trans cooler lines from when I converted my TGP to auto. They're kinda long though so I don't know how much shipping will be, but you can have them for like $15 plus shipping with the cooler. Otherwise just take the whole line off and take it to a hydraulic line shop and ask them if they can replace the rubber part of the line. I made a custom powersteering line for my '80 Jeep CJ-5 this way. They have a machine that puts the same style crimps on the rubber so it will still look factory. 8)

Umm im sure it would be easier for me to have a local place repair it rather than hoping another 15 year old line to fix it and hold up, thanks tho

ahhhh!!!! don't use worm gear clamps for anything under high pressure! use fuel injection stye hose clamps - they won't dig into the hose.

The lines used worm gears Stock except for the crimp, and the other stock lines use wormgear clamps also.. and cooler lines arnt even under that much pressure, but if i see some of those ill pick em up i guess

Yea you should :) , the no-pinch style he is reffering to is like those at the TB inlet pipe/hose and other turbo and coolant hoses, and at the silicone rubber coolant line over the front valve cover that runs over to the turbo, these have an extension of the clamp inside that keeps the worm/grooved part off of the hose you are clamping down. But the pressure of a tranny cooling line is too much pressure for just a hose to be clamped on WITHOUT a lip on the end of the metal line :!: , there are these "lips" on all our metal lines that have hoses clamping onto them. What I did instead of making a lip which is not easy was to flare the end of the metal line, then add an adapter that hooks to the flared end and has a barbed hose end on the other side, that barb will bite into the rubber hose when clamped to it :) These are very common supplies at a Home Depot or hardware store.

yea, we used a hose mender, it had 4 of these flares on each end, and we clamped them, its not leakin, lol

Super sweet, that is all that matters, success 8). Thanks for the reply info, I will do a search for this "Hose Mender", always good to have more info and options to know about, and offer others when needed :) .

it was brass, 5$ at shucks, the line i used was Super high pressure lines designed for powersteering pumps re-enforced, and 3/8 size for 20 cents an inch, i needed about 4 1/2 feet, and i got some Loom to protect it and zip tied it up out of harms way, its working perfectly! Hope it can help some of you who have leaky/bent/kinked/rusty lines, GM does NOT Make any of the trans lines for our cars anymore
