Prospeeder Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Ok now my car seems to have developed itself out of alighnment by veering right, the steering seems really shaky, like its jerky almost, and the car, it feels like from the rear drivers side is bumping, like as if you has a super all slow tire or a bent rim or out of balance wheel. Could i be out of blalance? Im gonna take it in soon and see if it is, mabye the wheel weights fell off one wheel, would a super out of balance wheel do that? Quote
Prospeeder Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 never mind, i took it to the local place, My lug nuts wernt properly tightend and my fron tires were about the fall off Quote

GutlessSupreme Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 yea he said if i was to drive like that anylonger my studs woulda been ruined, so would my wheels, and he said anylonger it my wheel would have came off  I snapped a stud off the Cutlass that way. I don't know what happened. I think I had taken off the tires for some reason before I parked it when I got the TSTE, and left at least 1 lug loose on one of the front wheels because it was kinda stripped out. Maybe I didn't finish tightening all of them, I don't remember. But I know one was crossthreaded pretty bad. I snapped the on the first drive after a month around my neighborhood. I thought it was a REALLY bad hub, but I knew I had a hub going and I never really settled the front suspension after I had lifted it a month ealier, it it had been sitting like \ / for a month. I figured that did the hub in for good and it was just clanking around. finally decided to pull the wheel to take a look at it and one lug was missing and the other 4 were halfway off. Quote
Prospeeder Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 Wow! Yea my studs were ok, i lucked out. I also took my moms car in cause it was shaking, Her drivers side front tire was improperly mounted, a stud was broken, and her brakes were sticking, BTW all this was FREE of charge to replace and check, i love the place i go to Quote

THE SHOP TIGHTENED THEM FREE OF CHARGE. What the fuck you want me to just turn down a free service and do it myself, even tho i DONT have a torque wrench Quote
cutlsp Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 sorry i thought they had you pay for it  but honestly you don't need a torque wrench to tighten lug nuts. The best rule of thumb is finger tight, then wrench tight, then lower the car to where it is touching the ground, and tighten the lugs as tight as you can, then lower it off the jack. Quote
Prospeeder Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 yea they even remounted my moms tire, replaced one of the studs and lugs all free of charge, nice place, its a large chain called Les Schwab in Washington, Idaho, Oregon< California, montanna and wyoming. They even do free wheel balencing, i got mine static balenced for free Quote
cutlsp Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 to bad there isn't a place like that here Quote
Prospeeder Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 They make there money of Tires, brake Jobs, wheels, and Suspension and alighnments, not shit like wheel balencing and simple little things, so they dont worry about it Quote
digitaloutsider Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 God forbid something on your car actually breaks one day. Quote
Prospeeder Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 God forbid something on your car actually breaks one day. I dont get what you mean? Quote
digitaloutsider Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 My point is: It's risky to decline his service to tighten your lug nuts and drive all the way back home, but It isn't risky to drive all the way to the mechanic in the first place? Had you actually invested the whole $20 in a torque wrench and $5 in a 19mm socket, you could have saved a bunch of time, and not risked anything by driving it on loose lug nuts in the first place. Prospeeder Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 Yea, I didnt know they were loose, i thought initially my wheel wieghts fell off or bent suspension part or somthing, I hadnt thought about loose lug nuts, but im sure It wouldnt have happend if i did have a torque wrench, i should prolly get one of those...
