badassoldspower Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Ok so im tired of my crummy on exhaust outlet, im gonna have my dad, hes a body tech notch out the other side of my bumper. MY plan is to take my existing flowmaster muffler and put it where the stock resonator is, then just run dual outlets, like 4 inch tips or something, anybody think this is a good plan? Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 i don't like the 4" tips thing....i'd consider '04 GTP tips before going to fart tips. otherwise, sounds like a plan to me. Quote
mfewtrail Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 I agree with Josh, get smaller tips! If I had my bumper notched out, I would user body filler or fiberglass over the area to smooth it out...and then repaint it. Just notching the bumper looks like shit if you ever look at it up close  Also, will the flowmaster even fit where the stock resonator is? I don't seem to remember seeing much room in that area, but I could be mistaken. Quote
TeeJay3800 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Does your rear lower facia have the dual exhuast openings? I would think that'd be necessary for a dual setup to look good. I like the idea of mounting the muffler where you mentioned...should keep the raspiness down. Quote

ns87 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Theres a montecarlo at my school with 4inch tips. Duel exaust, but duel tips on each muffler as well. It looks terrible Quote
J Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 4" way to big, it'd look like a diesel. I'd also think that the muffler would hang down if you mounted it in the position you spake about. Whatever you do post pics! Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 yeah my exhaust tip is only 3" and it looks really good, thats about as big as anyone would want/need to go. xtremelumina92, the muffler shouldnt hang down at all, theres more than enough support. Quote
badassoldspower Posted February 3, 2006 Author Report Posted February 3, 2006 Yeah but my car is lowered so idk it it will drag at all, so you guys think that a 3 inch tip on each side would look good? Quote
z34Phoenix Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 i like your car... i has a clean and sleek apearence. dont over do it with tips. i say just either go with four 2.25" or 2.5" tips or just 2 2.5" tips. but i still think 3" tips is too much. besides keep the car looking like a sleeper. clean and nice but hide the power! J Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 xtremelumina92, the muffler shouldnt hang down at all, theres more than enough support. yeah a flowmaster is pretty big, i'm not talking about support, i was more thinking the resonator is a tube and the flowmaster is a rectangle, so it's won't "tuck" into the space provided under the car. I think some oval style tips would be better suited on a Cutty(I've seen them with round 3'' or 4'' tips and they didn't look very appealing to me) Ractive ovals would probably look sweet on there. http://shop.ivalueinternet.com/bigexhaust/index.cfm/action/productdetail/product_id/456.htm That's the smaller oval tip from ractive, they have another that's 8'' wide, but I don't think that would even fit without altering the stock cutout on your model Cutlass? JMO yeah thats true, I didnt think of it like that, but yeah the muffle might actually rest on the floor board or rather be touching it, although prolly wont get hot enough to do very much. Quote

Ok so im tired of my crummy on exhaust outlet, im gonna have my dad, hes a body tech notch out the other side of my bumper. Pardon me for not understanding his incorrect grammar, but it should look badass with duals. I've always thought the Cutlass rear fascia with duals and lip soiler looked awesome; especially lowered like that. I agree that 4" tips would not be cool. Personally, I like the quad tip look on a W-body. 8) Also, I know other model Flowmasters are on the large side, but my 40-series is TINY compared to the stock muffler (at least in width and length). THe_DeTAiL3R Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 I like the small (3"?) round tips like on the new (2006) GP GXP. Small but nice. If you want larger, I'd just put something from a 1988-2006 Grand Prix... Quote
