19Cutlass94 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Well today I had a break during school, and my friend heard I was putting a new system in my car and he wanted to listen to it and see how loud it was. So we get out to my car, I was playing 50cent -- many men, for the really LOW bass it has on it, which gets insanely loud, and I turned it up to about 30 (out of 62 on my HU) and I actually made a car alarm go off. Not once but twice. I know the Elemental Designs equipment is mainly an SQ sub, but damn does it have some output. Best part is is that it was clean and clear no matter what the volume was. So yeah that was the highlight of my day, setting a car alarms off twice. BTW the car was a row over from where I was, a good 10-15ft. I know people can do this without trying, but I just thought Id share cuz me and my friend got a good kick out of it. Quote
Puggsley456 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 LOL!!! I once knocked a picture off my brothers wall when I was demoing it on his front street..lol And did I miss the Pics of the ed install? Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted February 3, 2006 Author Report Posted February 3, 2006 I didnt post any pics of that yet.... with my paycheck tomorrow, Ill be able to go get a new computer, then the pics will follow shortly! But it was great cuz everybody walking by since it was inbewteen classes so I got alot of attention! Quote
J Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 don't buy a computer, but and alarm with a merc switch for the trunk Quote
slick Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 don't buy a computer, but and alarm with a merc switch for the trunk Yeah, no doubt. You don't want attention from a lot of people. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted February 3, 2006 Author Report Posted February 3, 2006 yeah thats true, especially with all the work I got into it, and money, but whats the best security/car alarm? ( one with the above mentioned, and what exactly is a merc switch?) Quote
digitaloutsider Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 A mercury switch will make a connection when whatever it's attached to is no longer level, or within it's tolerances (i.e. your hood light). My guess here is to attach one to your trunk, so if someone bashes the lock out and opens it up, the alarm will go off. Quote

DING DING DING! j/k But around here and my home i even tunr down my subs when i am at a red light, so the cops and other cars can't pinpoint where the bass is coming from. I don't need my shit stolen again Quote

I don't need my shit stolen again The only time I think I ever have mine loud enough to do anything is if I'm moving at a good pace by myself. I always turn down at red lights, in parking lots, etc. (maybe I'm just paranoid, but I'd rather not risk it) Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted February 4, 2006 Author Report Posted February 4, 2006 I usually turn it down a little bit at red lights, but most of the places I go, theres always cameras like up at school or its a place where I know the people and such. So yes although I do want to get one, it might have to wait, BTW what one would be the best to go with? Quote
Puggsley456 Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Viper or compustar....seem to be the popular brands.... But most good alarms have the option to add a pin into to the trunk so when its opened it will go off. But pay the extra money and get a pager.....I love mine. I bought a starter/alarm combo cause I was tired of getting into a cold car in -40 weather. Quote
servoalt Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 LOL I used to set off this jackass' alarm every day leaving the Ferris parking lot. the douche got the first spot in the lot and never moved his car so I cranked it driving by every day. RICED Ford Probes look like shit so I had no choice... With my new subs I can make my friend's front door vibrate in the doorframe. My buddy was outside playing with my stereo while I was talkin to his sis. The other girl that was with us was like "yeah thats loud as f*** tell him to turn it down. We heard you all the way at the corner." ...the corner is about 1/4 mile away. I love being like number three in the city. Everyone knows me by the car. Quote
slick Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Get a Viper 771 or a Viper 791. The 791 has the LCD screen, really only difference. Get a merc. switch put in the trunk for sure. Also, these alarms sense a voltage drop, so say if a door is opened, or the trunk is popped open and the lights come on, they will usually go off after a few seconds. We've had a few lound systems in our install bay, 2 come to mind: 1st was a long while ago, person brought in subs, box, amp, and wiring, and wanted it installed(i believe a pair of L7's in a custom box, forget the amp), installed, tuned it, turned it up. The whole store rattled. 2nd was about 2 weeks ago. Guy brought in a pair of Rockford Fosgate T1's and a Hifonics Brutus 2006D amplifier in, and again a custom box. We had stuff rattle off of our walls in our install bay(we need a new clock damnit!). Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 We had stuff rattle off of our walls in our install bay(we need a new clock damnit!). I would think places that do stuff like that would think of these things thats funnny though Quote
servoalt Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 i had to use sticky foam to get that plastic trim piece right up by the windshield to stop buzzing like a freaking bee. i can put my remote on my trunk and have it flip like 3 inches in the air (on the right song) i have to open my windows and flip down one of my rear seats so i cant hear all the buzzing/rattles from everything in my car. does anyone else have their seatbelts lock up when its cranked? is that just me? i use my stereo instead of my horn when i go to someones house to pick them up. Psych0matt Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 does anyone else have their seatbelts lock up when its cranked? is that just me? wow, thats funny Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted February 7, 2006 Author Report Posted February 7, 2006 I mean my system is a different kind of loud. Its not the rattle everything apart until it falls off kinda loud. It the insanely loud, good sounding, lowww hitting kind of loud. Im sure if I had a sealed box, some of that would come true, but I just like vented boxes, cant explain it. I just do. Ill deff be checking out those two. I dont think money can be an option here. After all the work and all the money Ive put into it. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted February 7, 2006 Author Report Posted February 7, 2006 That viper 791 looks really good! But I prolly will never use the remote start. I just need it for the security. Quote
