z34duck Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 I have a good 3.1 out of a 92 lumina my 3100 in my 95 grand prix is junk . is it possible to put the 3.1 in the grand prix by usning the intake from 3100 i have been told the long block is the same . is this true or have i been mislead thank you john Quote
Supreme Cutlass Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 First off, it's a short block. And yes you can, just look up the many threads on a 3100 top end swap. Quote
GP1138 Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Honestly, it's probably not worth the work. I'd just try to find a whole 3100, they're a dime a dozen. It's possible, but again, not worth it. Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Why not? At least you'd have what I consider a "partial rebuild".. that is new gaskets all around... Quote
KrazyCutlass1995 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 should be able to pick up a whole 3100 out of a 97 or so for about 400 bux with around 60k miles thats what they go for around here in FL , save ya some work, and maybe be lower miles on the bottom end .. somethin to consider Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 I'd much rather try to find a 3400 in that case. The Centurys with the newer 3100s don't feel all that powerful compared to say a 3400 powered Impala or MC. Quote
z34duck Posted February 3, 2006 Author Report Posted February 3, 2006 the 3.1 from the lumina is already out and only has 56 k miles so i think im goingto use it thank you for all your help Quote
1QUICKHATCH Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 the 3.1 from the 92' will not work in the 95. the 92 3.1 has no provisions for your cam sensor. you will have to change many other things as well, it not as easy as just doing a intake manifold swap! Quote
