Guest TurboSedan Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 these strut boots have an integrated compression bumper on the top side. for the life of me i cannot slip the bumper over the strut shaft! the hole in the bumper that is supposed to slide over the shaft is just too small. i tried using dishsoap as a lube (like the direction say to) and i still cannot get the thing to slide over is anyone else here using KYB strut boots? KYB part# SB104. i went to KYB.com and even their catalog says the 1st GEN W-body uses SB104. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 n/m i got the fucker. i was trying to slide it on with the strut shaft completely depressed and the base of the strut was interfering. i had to hold the strut shaft up while my brother pushed the boot on. Quote
DiscoStudd Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Too late, but thought I'd mention that I got mine on just fine: I seem to remember having a bit more trouble getting the "jounce bumper" part of the boot inside the strut mount than sliding the boot over the shaft... Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 i'm working on the front suspension. it was pretty easy when i found out that i had to have the strut shaft pulled up (not fully depressed) in order to allow the thing to slide on. i won't be able to use rear strut boots with the coilovers i'm planning on.
