Oil Pressure/ how to increase

Recommended Posts

Ok so I am putting my engine back together and tonight we checked side to side clearance for the rod to crank. on two of the cylinder the measurment was out of tolerance. now my question how to get more oil pressure. i am going to have a high flow pump and stiffer spring. and i am going to replace the two rods. also i am running a turbo on the engine. so i need more oil pressure. what can i do.

Well, To much oil pressure can cause the oil to leak out the seals, so ud need an oil restrictor of some sort on the turbo lines

I would think a slightly heavier weight oil would also do that..but thats just a thought.

How much oil psi do you have now and how much do you want??? An N/A engine only needs like 25psi to be well lubricated. With a turbo/supercharger 40psi is PLENTY.

isn't the 3.4 block casting the same as the 3.1's? I know absolutely nothing about the 3.4 except don't buy one that needs a dist. drive seal. You may be able to get away with using the Mellings HV-95. The same as the TGP and what some built 3.1's have in them.

Well, I have increased the oil pressure on my 3800. I don't know if it's going to work on the 3100, but what I did was i put a 1.5mm washer between the spring and the oil pressure relief valve. At WOT it went from around 50PSI to 80PSI. I don't know where is the oil pressure relief valve on the 3100, but the mod is cheap enough to try and find it.
