Supreme Cutlass Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 The line from the throttle body broke in half, what's the best way to fix it? I was thinking of just getting some rubber vacuum hose and uputting the two ends into it. Quote

THe_DeTAiL3R Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I replaced mine with brand new GM one. It cost $40 which came with 2 other vac lines I didn't need. :? Before that I had just put some duct tape to seal the vacuum leak, but I was tired of how it looked... Quote
95oldsVan Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I have fixed many broken lines with rubber hoses.Never had any real problems doing so. Theres also a "NEW"cheaper alternative...you can buy these plastic vacuum lines from autoparts stores in the package.Theyre usually coiled up in the box so you need to boil them in hot water for a few minutes to straighten them out good. If you have a piece of wood and some nails, lay the old line down on there and place the nails on the sides of the line,an inch or so apart, until you the nails mimick its shape.Install nails closer around sharp curves. With the new line boiled softer to bend, lay it down along the nails shape you made and it will harden after a few minutes and stay that shape. You can shape the lines this way in any shape you need.I did this before and the line kit cost me 5 bucks.Made my new ones to the shape, curves I needed and saved 40+ bucks over what the dealer would have charged me. Oh wow, ouch, I just used plastic pieces on the ends and made the entire vacuum system out of rubber hose, much more flexible and I can run it how I want, much nicer, and easier to me Quote
LumiDriver Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I've actually had a shop that I know replace 2 vacuum lines for free. It was sweet. The only thing that cost me cash was the diagnostics on the engine to find out what the symptoms were Quote
