TGP badge Refininshing?

Now this is irritating me, on the back of my car, the outline of the emblem is actually etched into my paint, and it looks like shit! So i wanna put at least 1 on the back.

 

Is the paint color code 81 like the Grand Prixs? What is the finish, some kind of enamal or is it actually paint?? And do you know if its a special paint? Im gonna see if anyone can refinish them, and make the Gold part silver or somthing, or if anyone has just 1 near mint Red one for a reasonable price id buy that

 

Anyone else been sucessful in refinishing thiers?

dont try to refinish it! just wipe it off and get 3-M EMBLEM tape with the red backing then razor knife the shape out.

The paint/enamal is Chipped and cracked and the metal parts all green and corroded

 

Youch, 200$ for a refinish of an enamal 1 color badge, and more if its complex, NEW they wenrnt even that much

Take a brass wire brush to it. You'll be surprised how much it'll help. Obviously still won't look mint but it's a good way to clean the crap off of it, and it doesn't scratch anything. the metal edges of the badge will shine a little more and the enamal won't be coated in dirt.

Thats my BEST one, Another i destroyed the finish trying to clean it, the cleaner erroded the enamal, id rather the etch in the paint than that
