my KYB strut mounts and boots arrive today and i'll be putting them on my '96 strut/knuckle assemblies along with my Intrax springs.

do i need to have the spring ends, lower spring perch, or strut mount orientated a certain way?

i didn't install the Eibach springs on my Cutlass, so this is the first time i've had to do this. any help appreciated, thanks

When I installed my ST lowering springs, I had to rotate the rubber spring perch 180 degrees from factory because they were a half coil longer.

just comparing things to how my TSTE is right now, it looks like the spring ends are supposed to end facing outward (towards you when looking at them from the wheel well). it also looks like the strut bearing plate (lower spring perch) needs to be posistioned correctly as well so that big metal thing that sticks out on one side of it doesn't hit the inner fenderwell plastic. i mocked up my new strut/knuckles the same way and it looks like it will work fine. however, i found that the strut bearing needs to be replaced so i can't put them together until i get those :?

this front suspension & brake upgrade is costing me a ton

so far i have:

$100 - set of j/y 49,000 mile '96 Cutlass strut/knuckle assemblies

$90 - Intrax springs

$10 - 34mm front sway bar from j/y '91 DOHC Cutlass International

$100 - KYB strut mounts and boots from tirerack.com

$210 - set of white GP 5-spoke wheels

and i still need to get:

~$100 - lower ball joints

~$75 - strut bearing plates

~$50 - front brake pads

~$50 - 11.25" rotors

~$100 - KYB strut cartridges

$??? - control arm & sway bar bushings?

costing a helluva lot more than i was planning but it should ride great and look good when i'm done. i'll probably have at least that much into the rear suspension after i get the FFP coilovers and GMPP trailing arms. oh and then i still need a set of 245/50s

i seem to recall having to turn my st's 180 degrees also. just line everything up by making marks and see if it all goes together like stock and if not, youll have to rotate the springs
