18incholdz Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 has anyone ever installed locking lug nuts on their car an lost the tool to get them off????? How do i get these off because i lost the tool like a moron....I already tried pounding a socket on it so it was tight, but the socket that fit the nut wouldn't fit in the hole in the wheel....If anyone knows how to get this off please tell me Quote
PJB Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Go to a junkyard and try to find one that fits. Or a dealer. Theres only a few different ones. Quote
okidedrak Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 i did ..... lose my key..forgot it on and drove it was made by MCGUARD...so i called and gave them teh code of teh package it came in and they sent me a replacement for about 10$. Quote
ctx46 Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 just go to a ggod year or tires plus, and have them take em off..... or if you have access to a air hammer I can explain how to pound em off that way...... Quote
Brian P Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 If theyre factory locking lugs, use a 20mm 12 point socket with an impact gun. RIGHT OFF Quote
nerfbars Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 They also make a special twist socket that bites on the outside of the nut. It has a spilraled inside wall. You should be able to get one at your local auto parts store. Quote
chronic139 Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 yeah a couple of tool companies like MAC make a lock remover kit. they work pretty nice. Quote
NOHC_WBody Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 I've found countless lock sockets in glove boxes in boneyard cars. Some of them still even in the plastic. Quote
supreme_style21 Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 -Mike- BANNED from http://www.focaljet.com in ONE POST . LOL .. Couldn't have said it any better! Quote
Drache Rott Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I just found out today that we wierdos at napa have a universal lock nut remover tool....I thinkit was 13.00 it's sort of cone shaped inside and you use a 1/2 drive breaker bar or ratchet to operate it....you tap it on the socket with a soft face hammer... Quote
18incholdz Posted March 26, 2003 Author Report Posted March 26, 2003 tried that allready...the hole in my rims to get to the lug nut is too small for that to fit in it....but the good news is that i had to send in for a new key and it should be here tomorrow... Quote
1trucavalier Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 who is the lock manufactorer? you can always go on the net and order one. I did the same thing after I put on my mcguards. I strongly suggest if you find one to drill a hole in the center and attach to the something you can't loose. I put mine on my spare tgp keys. Quote
OldsmoBeast Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 My dealership KEPT mine once....those bastards......i went back there and raised hell until they gave me a new one. then i just stopped going there. Quote
