Crazy K Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 lol me too but the stb will take 5 more minutes to complete the job it clears when you tilt the engine, at least the factory vert's OEM stabilizer car does. BTW some idiot replaced the alt in the vert and only put the top bolt in since they could not reach the bottom bolt!!!!! I disconnect the dogbones by disconnecting the brackets from the radiator support, and tilt the engine forward using rachet strap power. Quote
Cam'ron Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 at least your getting some warning on it so dont waste your time waiting to do it... every alternator i have ever had go on me went without warning Quote
Crazy K Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 hey.... you can always buy one from autozone, leave it in the trunk, as insurance, if you are still debating about a high amp one... Quote
digitaloutsider Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 BTW some idiot replaced the alt in the vert and only put the top bolt in since they could not reach the bottom bolt!!!!! So? I've seen plenty of alternators put on with only 2 bolts. Quote
Crazy K Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 on the 3.1 the major bolt is the bottom bolt. alternator needs that one far worse than the others.... Yes, I'll bring it and show everyone at the ohio meet what it does to your car........ it ripped some of the fan blades off the alternator and seriously ground away the alternator mount and to a lesser extent, the alternator. I'm not in any hurry but I still need a new mount, because it wore through the mount!!!!!!! In fact, I was offered a lumina that someone bolted the alternator down in the same way and it was ejected from the vehicle.... it looked like a mortar went up and out through the hood. Quote
