wyomingste Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I drove 900 miles straight with no problems but when i pulled off the highway to get some food my motor was tapping. I got out and checked the oil but it was fine so I figured I had spun a cam bearing so I went in to go and eat. long story short when I came back out and started my motor there was no tap, what would cause this. Also is there a way to reprogram the rev. limiter from the 4000 RPM below 20mph to the full 6212 RPM constantly? Thanks for the help everyone, Eric Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 wow someone else from Wyoming  what engine do you have in your STE? Quote
wyomingste Posted January 20, 2006 Author Report Posted January 20, 2006 I have the 3.1 non turbo but i'm working on building a T3/T4 hybrid fed 3.4. If you are ever planning on coming to Cheyenne meet up with me. wow someone else from Wyoming same thing i'm thinking right now. Quote
sl3196 Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 Whoa wyoming! We go through cheyenne quite a bit on the way to meets and stuff in Denver. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 cool, i used to live in Laramie (and will again but i keep putting it off). i go through Cheyenne quite a bit. did the tapping noise sound like it was coming from the valvetrain or the bottom end? PM Vegeta about chips. i wouldn't get one from anyone else. Quote
wyomingste Posted January 21, 2006 Author Report Posted January 21, 2006 It sounded like a colapsed lifter. but i'm not sure i've never heard of them correcting themselfs. I thought for sure that my engine would have been gone by the time I hit Cheyenne (from Wamsutter). I was suposed to go to wyotech last fall but i blew out my shoulder. Quote
