ok so im putting a 3400 top end on a 3100 bottom end, and im wondering what head gasket i would use... pic would be nice but n e other way of lettin me know would be great thanks

 

by the way im a newb on this site, but not new to working on cars, avid member of v6z24.com and just bought a 95 grand prix...

You would use a 3100 head gasket, since thats what pistons are in the engine.

 

Or use the iron head 2.8 head gaskets to bump your compression up...thats what I would do.

its not a overall hard swap, you say that you have a 95' prix. when was the car built (on drivers door st production 1995 cars, pull off one of the rockers and studs if there is a little notch under the rocker ticker) the reason i say that is about the rockers. since its a 95' it will have the stamped rockers which will not clear the 3400 LIM, now what i saw they used the roller rocker style heads on latehen you can use the newer style roller rockers on your existing heads. but if its a early 1995 car chances are that it has the older heads which simply do not have that notch.

i just needed to know if i should use the head gasket from the 3400 or the 3100 now i know... thanks alot guys

FWIW: I used a whole re-gasket kit for a 3400, and it didn't make any difference, the car runs great, no other problems. :thumbsup:

ok, well i just called my dad and told him to pick up the the 3400 re-gasket kit he said he'll pick it up today... thanks alot
