Supreme Cutlass
I think an l67 swap would be more worth your time, and yes you can use your tranny. What year is the car you want to put it in?
moneygreen
a 96 monte, I'm just tryin yo keep things simple, and whats avilable in my area.
Vegeta
Drop it in, use the 3100 injectors and rail/regulator. Shouldn't have any major issues using the 3100 computer then and you can always go with the DHP tuning setup later on.
1QUICKHATCH
for the time and money I would do a 3400 swap.

Supreme Cutlass
i just want a 3.4 i think if a want a l67 i'd be better off buying a car witch comes with one I would want to swap in more than a 25hp gain for the trouble of an engine swap, but that's just IMO, whatever floats your boat. THe_DeTAiL3R
The 3400 is a worthwhile swap. Hell you'd be surprised when a Montana smokes your 3.1...
moneygreen
i'm not i speed freak just want a little more speed than what the car came with, but also want the job to go easy as possible, When i want to speed i ride my ZX12 at about 175mph at 2 a.m. lol. now thats fast I had a busa at 198mph once. THe_DeTAiL3R
If you do the swap make sure you change the intake and HEAD gaskets while you're at it. Head gaskets seem to be a common problem with the 3400s (see it all the time at the dealership).
Supreme Cutlass
The 3400 is a worthwhile swap. Hell you'd be surprised when a Montana smokes your 3.1... woah woah woah, who's comparing the 3400 to the 3.1? of COURSE a 3400 compared to a 3.1 will smoke it, but a whole new engine for a stroked block? I just don't see how 25hp is worth an engine swap. If I had the resources, I would trash my 3.1, but this is different.

THe_DeTAiL3R
Although I've never swapped an engine, the 3400 seems like a direct swap for the 3100 and almost direct swap for 3.1. If you can get a motor for a couple hundred bucks it's a SOLID 25+HP and TORQUE, with the potential for alot more.. dollar for dollar makes sense to me. Crazy K
only think that I have heard and read on is that you have to fab an adapter to make your EGR work. But other than that it would be a direct swap. (To my knowledge)
manitcor
screw the adapter, I found a quarter and a nice bit of JB Weld worked just fine 8)

Crazy K
wouldn't it work just fine to swap the heads and intake? s the block exactly the same?????
manitcor
http://www.3400swap.com all questions are awnsered there. no swapping the topend isint the same thing, swapping the engine can be done in a day for less than $
