stlunatics2oo3 Posted March 21, 2003 Report Share Posted March 21, 2003 okay i got a code 45 the other day means= rich exhaust probable cause check the evaporative charcoal canister and its components for the presnece of fuel .... so i guess this would cause a poor idle and a fuel stench so my question is how do tell if it is messed up or not ? and i hope this helps anyone with a an idle problem so check it also if your idle is messed up cause it could be it thanks jeremy Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
crc Posted March 25, 2003 Report Share Posted March 25, 2003 Hmm... The canister rarely goes bad, so...... You mentioned in another post that you had EGR issues.. Code 45 is more or less the cousin of Code 13 along with 45, all of which involve Oxygen Sensor circuit. If the EGR is not functioning than you could be running Rich, which sets off a Code 45.. Also leaky injectors and/or high fuel pressure can in extreme cases setoff Code 45... Time to really look at that EGR.. it's more important than it sounds..
