djardeli
Has anybody experimented with cheap fixes for a warped rear fiberglass leaf spring, cheap as in finding a way around replacing it? I was quoted $680 Cdn. for a two-leaf steel replacement for the original fiberglass part. The car is a 1990 Chev. Lumina and the problem has been there for three years, ever since I had a rear strut failure. The car sits 1/4 to 1/2 inch lower on the driver's side and as a result the car steers to the left under certain situations. I understand that some people have tried rotating the spring 180 degrees or tried coil-over methods. Also, are cracked bushings bad? This part is just a rubber pad. The one on the passenger's side has been cracked for quite some time and there's not much rubber between the fiberglass and lower frame part. Fixing this won't cure the warpage therefore I have left this for quite a while too. Daniel

JS91Z34
You can get the leaf spring helpers at just about anywhere. I would go with the ones that are made by Moog. Their a better quality bushing. If there's a carquest parts store around by you, they sell them. .

djardeli
Hey a Hamiltonian.. thanks for the advice. I used to live there up until 1998. Had to move to London for school and out west because of work. I have to say I've seen the same vintage cars as me and some of them are spotless, very little rust. I think they use more salt on the road in Ontario. kiwi133
I have the moogs sitting in my room waiting for a free weekend to be installed. I got them in december and tried to install them when it was like 15 degrees out. After freezing myself pretty good I realized that I no longer had the dextarity to fiddle the wrench into the tight places up there. I can't wait to get that ass up.
