How to find TDC

My car's timing is supposedly off and I'm redoing it and I want to make sure everything's perfect this time because if this doesn't work the car's getting junked. I just want to know how to find top dead center on cylinder NO. 1 . thanks for the help.

easy, pull the spark plug out, stick your finger in the hole until the compression pushes your finger out/you can feel the piston...... TDC.... oh but make sure to put it pack in, haha, we started the Trans-Am without one in, wow that was interesting, talk about exhaust leak times 20 infinity

I would use a straw or maybe a wood dowel, but same idea. I think you may not be able to touch it with your finger.

timing marks are little yellow dots on the cam gears. not little WHITE marks. :x thanks guys. I was trying to see if there was a more exact way.

You should hear a Duramax whirl over for a compression check...
