Crazy K Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 and then set back onto the ground. Thats right, I have to run the car until warm, then lift it so one wheel is off the ground, spin it in gear, stop it again, lower the car and then it moves! It is a 4t60 (non electronic) tranny in my 3.1 91 CS vert. The car also had no functioning 3 gear (drive) the OD works but you have to get to 50mph in manual 2nd and then upshift. wait a few seconds and then ease onto the gas. It acts as if in neutral while in third. The vehicle was used for towing without a proper cooler. When I bought it the tranny fluid didn't smell very burnt, but looked really dirty. A tranny fluid and filter change revealed a magnet overclogged with powdered meatl. (no chunks/ or large particles) Any thoughts as to what would cause these conditions? I am buying a rebuild kit, but is anyone familiar with the valve body? I plan to add a cooler and extra magnet to tranny to help once it is all fixed. Quote
Pabz Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 No third gear, reminds me of another thread, and whats up with you people in cleveland using 3.1 91 CS Convertibles for towing??? Let me know what rebuild kit your going with as I forsee a similar project in my future. It might be something I would like to learn how to do. Why not get a used one and rebuild that? Quote
