servoalt
I have a question I have for any ABody/WBody freaks who have done an engine swap between the vehicles. My buddy has a 95 Century that has a 3100 and it siezed. Therefore, he went and got a 3100 from a 95 Lumina from a local JY. I've heard there can be some major differences between the engines and he did not know about them when he got the engine. So far, I have heard these can be different between the cars: fuel rail and connections oil filter/use of an adapter front/top engine mounts/dogbones rear/bottom engine mounts timing chain cover/bracket EGR engine to tranny bracket intake sensors/senders depending on what gauges each car has AC bracket...maybe? IF ANYONE HAS DONE A W-BODY TO A-BODY 3100 SWAP, OR VICE VERSA, PLEASE HELP. Are there any things I may have missed? I don't want to get this engine into the car to realize that we have to pull it for some insignificant thing. Is there any wiring that must be accounted for? Are there any differences in that aspect? Thank you in advance Keith Kimmerly servoalt@yahoo.com
mihela816
Well if it's just a replacement, you don't need to worry about any of those things because you already have them.
servoalt
Well, yes I know we have all the parts to get it in there. I was just asking in case someone had done this and already knows what needs to be done in order to save some headaches. Not every difference is obvious and we don't want to find out something needs to be changed AFTER the engine is in. My buddy needs to get the car done ASAP for his mother to get back and forth to work.
jeremy
you might be better off trying to get your answer on the a-body board, I can't imagine that there are too many people on here that gutted a w-body to put the powertrain in an a-body
White93z34
fron what i understand the upper intake is different on the a-body 3100 upper intake, but other then that, set the engines side by side and start transfering anything specific
servoalt
Is the upper intake different just in looks or for the egr, do you know? My buddy did a Lumina - to - Grand Am swap and it needed the intake swapped out in favor of a different egr.

Calvin
i want to say theres something extra that the a-bodys have, i cannot fir the life of me remember what it is though. A MAF sensor. The MAF goes in the throttle body assembly, which bolts up to the intake differently, necessitating the different upper intake. Kurt
