black92zed34
Hey all, Please save your comments, I really only need technical advice. I have 2 z34s...one 5speed, bad motor...one auto, excellent creampuff of a motor. I also have a Indy Beretta , bad body...with an excellent, strong, lo mile 3.1 and 282 getrag. I wanna put the 3.4 from the auto into the 5 speed car...no sweat. Then, I want to put the Beretta drivetrain into the auto z34. What do i need as far as motor mounts and cv axles for this swap? I have a complete drivetrain and harness/ecm...all that stuff. I guess if anyone has motor mounts(brackets) and a clutch pedal, I can buy the cv axles...the shift assy./hydraulic clutch should all work as well...right?Thanks for any and all advice. patgizz
well. the 3.4 harness from the z34 will work with the 3.1, some wires just need moved around a little. you just need to modify the auto trans plug for the proper wiring for the 282. and then toss in a 3.1/282 computer for a w-body. get w-specific axles and engine mounts/trans mount. w-body specific 3.1 downpipe. should be able to work with the beretta shifter and cables. ns87
completely unrelated, but how rare are those berreta indy cars? I just saw one in my junkyard...
Robby1870
The non-pace car ones are semi rare, but not really that great, just a 2.8l in them or something. There are only two I think actual pace-car beretta's. I wanna say there are 500 replicas.
mihela816
Remember that the 3.4 will be a tight squeeze in that engine bay. Do maintenace like spark plugs and stuff before you put it in, just to save headaches later.
Euro
keep us posted!! i'd like to see a 3.1/282 in a Z34!! IIRC the Beretta Indy's production numbers are something like this... Green=2500 Yellow=
black92zed34
Yeh, the Berette indy was a 1990 only optoin, i've had 2 of them, one teal and one yellow. both 5 speeds. They came with a 3.1 only.I am parting out the teal one...this is the donor motor and trans. There were about 6 convertibles (3 indy's)and 3 or 4 hardtop teal hardtops produced for the race...they had 3.4 (stroked, punched 3.1 block)pushrod engines, with custom intake/exhaust/internals...producing about 240 horsies from some specs...very rare and very cool. There were 1500 yello replicas, and 3500 teal ones, all hardtops. BTW, mihela816, i'm putting a 3.1 in a z34 bay, not the reverse...thanx... I bet this car still smokes, the torque numbers are pretty high on the 3.1.
