joey b Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 My sisters 96 cutlass 3100 is having some major transmission problems it seems. When you press the gas it doesn't really go. It just creeps forward ever so slowly. Once it gets to speed it runs fine. She tells me it has problems from a start- but not every time. Sometimes it will accelerate just fine. Sometimes when it shifts to 2nd it will act up. It runs very smooth and doesn't feel as if the gears are grinding. Remember it has the 4T60e and the fluid was changed this past summer. Quote
Crazy K Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 sounds like the initial startup issue I have with e 4t60 in my 91 vert. fluid level is correct? Does it ever fail to go when it is fully warmed up? Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 see if the fluid looks burnt too! Quote
88Regal Limited Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 My car acted like it was in neutral with no fluid..... Quote
joey b Posted January 12, 2006 Author Report Posted January 12, 2006 apparently it is the torqe XXXX solenoid. My sister obviously didn't take close notice to the second word they said when she took it to auto zone. How hard is it to replace and do I have to pull the tranny? If I lower the pan is it right there or do I have to take stuff out from the bottom? :? Quote
Stekman Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Is/was there an error code? Perhaps hook it up to a scan tool that can read transmission outputs? Quote
joey b Posted January 13, 2006 Author Report Posted January 13, 2006 just the SES light which directed us to the torque XXXX solenoid. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 TCC solenoid? torque converter clutch solenoid. Quote
joey b Posted January 17, 2006 Author Report Posted January 17, 2006 Apparently it is the SHIFT SENSOR SOLENOID. Anybody have any idea on the difficulty of replacing that? Quote
