tail light housing

How do the tail lights come out on a 88 Regal? i went to take mine out and it looks like the entire center section comes out not just one light. Is this how it is or do the lights come out by themselves?

On my Lumina you can remove both tailights seperate from the center piece. Pull back the trunk liner and looks for some plastic wing nut type things. They are screwed to the studs holding the tailight in...I would think it is the same sort of thing on your car??

It's one long piece. Both tail lights are attached to the center license plate area. Remove the carpet and unscrew all of the nuts you see and the whole thing will pop right out...

I stand corrected

yep, one bigass long piece, tons of 10mm nuts hold it in there.

agreed. the one taillight design is in keeping with the century and park avenue of the early 90's. If broken it ruins the entire thing.

Haha...yeah don't worry about it...that's why I like this forum, always learning.

But that sucks if you break one little piece of the very top left of the tailight you gotta replace the whole thing??? Whos idea was that? Another way to get lots of money for parts?
