Supreme Cutlass Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 I just dropped the pan and changed the filter, how much fluid does it need? a gallon? Quote
1990lumina Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 My Haynes Manual says 4.0 qts for the 3T40 This is the number for fluid and filter change Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Should be in your Owners manual if you have it, look for specifications, it says one for Flush(or if its completly empty/new), and one for Just drain and refill Quote

Prospeeder Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Dexron IIE? My manual states Dexron III and its a 90 ...yeah huh? I would expect a newer car to use a newer brand of trans fluid Quote
Supreme Cutlass Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Posted December 29, 2005 ...would you like me to take a picture? Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Oh Ic, whats so different about the E? The back of my Dexron II bottle says compatable with Dexron II, III-G and thats it, mabye it left some out, but it is special? Quote
digitaloutsider Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 For the last time, Dexron III and now VI has superceded all previous fluids. That's the only difference, it's newer. Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 we always used the dexron III in my friends 3t40...since the new stuff is backwards compatible Quote
NeonKnight Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 i use Dexron III in my TH-125c POS transmission, 3 speed pos from hell! give it just enough throttle and it shifts. 2nd gear has crap for power and i feel the need to hit the gas more to make the car move, then it hits down to first and starts making the nice WHOMP! noise that my car does... poor 3.1 needs some more power Quote
