Guest TurboSedan
there IS such a thing as bench bleeding a master cylinder guys. i have not done this on a W-body, but i have done it numerous times on Turbo Dodges. the procedure may not be applicable here though. warwgn3
OK I read that link to servicing the old calipers but I still have a problem, how the heck do I get the piston to retract back into it's bore? I have a caliper piston tool that you use to turn the piston into the bore but I can only get it to turn counter clockwise(out), and not clockwise the way I want(in). I was told to make sure the parking brake is released fully, and the lever on the caliper is certainly fully back against its stop. So it can't be any more released than that. I'm running out of money, I already got a replacement old style right hand caliper because fluid was leaking out of the old one, but the left one looks fine I just can't figure out how to retract the piston to put in the new pads. In case you are wondering why I'm not upgrading right now, it's because I need the parking brake to be working to get the car through the safety inspection. Plus I already got some pads for free, and replacing one caliper seemed to be cheaper than upgrading both at the same time.
