Crazy K
I've never actually had a intake gasket failure on my of my cars... But most are 100k+ specials. I have seen plenty at the j/y, though. i have done Suggestion/question.... I removed the inner seal(that vents to the reservoir) on one car when I thought it had a failed gasket (turns out it was tranny fluid from a busted transcooler, not oil in coolant) Thus preventing the coolant from becoming pressurized and finding the leak to leak back the other direction, which would be much worse that oil leaking into cooolant. I think this ultimately prevented contamination of the trans fluid buy never allowing the coolant to reach a higher presure than the oil/trans fluid (such as when car engine shut off hot) Would this be a suitable temporary measure to prevent major damage and keep a vehicle on the road? (Yeah I had to add coolant about once a week, but with a bad trans cooler, there would also be an inch of trans fluid on top, which i would need to displace)
Prospeeder
i dont know but its been over 100+K now since i bought it.... my engine wont just blow up right? should i see symptoms like toro toro? loss of coolant, coolant in the oil, milky, and can turn into what you saw, a disgusting mess

Crazy K
f_399, I made my sugggestion on your post, the same TEMPORARY zero pressure coolant system operation to negate leaks from pressure(p.s.as mentioned above as well). BUT monitor the situation carefully if you temporarily run a zero pressure system, regularly checking oil and coolant....
f_399
should i still drive the car? i dont want to do more damage
Crazy K
I actually ran out and bought another car when this happened, since i thought my goose was cooked, I made the decision to run it figuring it would last a few weeks.....(I still had to commute 30 miles to work:shock:) , but discovered my problem was a leaking internal trans cooler in the radiator. I recommend getting it fixed asap.

Prospeeder
If your keeping it (wich it sound like your not) It costs roughly 600-900$ to get dont at a shop or dealer.

I don't feel like writing everything so heres a link (with pics). http://wbodysource.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=
Crazy K
C-BAD, I saw you thought about doing the Head gaskets...... I would not do them, personally.... since they are not the problem. (don't fix what ain't broke!) I'm glad it sounds like your repair was successful!

f_399
are the intake gaskets the only one that broke? no need to replace the head gasket? a friend looked at the engine and said it would be hard to get to the gaskets near the firewall, does that need to be replaced? where can i find a write up on this? ToroToro
Gaskets near the firewall? The rear head gasket? Your intake gaskets are most likely the problem anyways.
THe_DeTAiL3R
Yeah my intake gaskets were toast. I will eventually take pics of them. The headgaskets seem to be fine I didn't replace them, no need to unless you think you do (oil mixing with coolant, BURNING coolant). LIM it just seems to drink the coolant into the oil with no other symptoms.
