94CutlassSLCoupe Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Well, I get home to my '94 Cutlass Supreme 3100 and change the oil only to find that I have a line leaking on it, the problem is that I am not sure what it goes to. Basically, its a set of lines that hook into the bottom of the radiator near the center of the car and then run over to the driver's side of the car and then they looked like they ran up and over the transmission. I know they aren't the tranny lines because those run on the passenger side of the radiator and tranny lines are much larger than these. Any idea what these are? Where can i get replacements? This is pissing me off..the car doesn't even have 40,000 miles on it yet...arrgh Quote
digitaloutsider Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Um.. my transmission cooler lines in my GP certainly didn't run from the passenger side at all.. Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 well shit...that's a typo...but they still don't run into the lower part of the radiator...they are on the top and bottom of the side tank...this is something else. Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 no...the A/C lines dont go in the radiator...plus they wouldn't be leaking oil bad enough for it to be on the frame Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 ok...just looked at it...its the transmission lines and they do go to the passenger side of the radiator...they just run along the bottom of the radiator tank until they get to the passenger side of the car. these ought to be some FUN to change in the WINTER Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Where is it leaking on the line, like at one of the connections of the actual line? I had that happen once but just needed a new clamp. Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 i had some leakage and it was fixed by changing the clamp. if it's at the end you might be able to just get by with a new clamp. since it's winter, i hope that what you're looking at. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 ok...just looked at it...its the transmission lines and they do go to the passenger side of the radiator...they just run along the bottom of the radiator tank until they get to the passenger side of the car. these ought to be some FUN to change in the WINTER Hm. Musta changed that from '90 to '94 because on my GP, the lines run right into the left side of the radiator. Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 its leaking where the hose goes into the factory crimping...I was hoping napa could get me new ones...but no luck...i'll see what OEM GM ones cost and then i'll decide if i want to fuck with just changing the clamps Quote
93CutlassSupreme Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 how bad is it leaking? Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 just enough to put a drop or two on the frame when it sits overnight Quote
93CutlassSupreme Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 well, i'd personally wait until spring Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 its leaking where the hose goes into the factory crimping... Mine doesnt have any crimps on it, just the clamps... I just changed it from the shitty OEM ones to an actually clamp. But if its only leaking a drop or two, shit I wouldnt worry about it until the weather was good enough. Just check the fuild every couple weeks Quote
Pabz Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 Mines leaking too! Gonna check it spring! Lemme know how it goes. Quote
Brian P Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 try to find fuel-line clamps as worm-style clamps may dig into the line and create another leak sooner than later. Quote
