 Okay,I've gotten everything outa the way to get to the i.c.m. (starter, oil filter),And i've removed the 2 screws that i could see,And i've also taken the screws out of the coils,But the i.c.m. still won't move,Is there another screw somewhere that i'm missing,Or do you have to take everything off (plug wires and coils)Before it'll move? This car is my only means of transportation,So all help is greatly appreciated,Thanks

It's kind of a bitch to do. Pull the coils off, and then make sure you have both retaining bolts off.

i only see one bolt for each coil,my cars a 92 G.P.,Do the coils maybe run diffirent fom year to year? Maybe I'm just not seeing it,I'll go look and try again,Thanks.

I just leave the bracket on it's not worth taking off IMO.

So off come the coils, and so do the ICM.

Fu%k,I can't even SEE the top 3 screws holding the coils on,I was hopeing to leave the wires and everything attached,But i guess that's not going to happen. What's the easiest way to get to the top 3 screws?

It's not hard just feel around with your finger, and then guide your socket in there.

exactly. they are 5.5 mm btw. take all three coils loose and remove and off comes the module, the coil bolts are all that hold it in.

p.s. why are you taking them off? a no-start condition? Have you checked the crankshaft postion sensor already?

The car won't start because the i.c.m. has gone bad,That's why i'm replaceing it.

Put some hair around that thing!

DOHCragtopguy,You got jokes  Crazy K,With everything going on at this joyous time of year,I'll have to wait till friday until i can work on the car again,But thanks to all for the replies,And I'll post to let you know how things go.

ok. My only worry would be if you did all the work and it was something else. I've never actually had a bad module, just bad crank sensors!

Well,I have the car back together and it STILL won't run,it's getting spark now but it still won't start :cuss: :dammit: :bash:

Posted

No,I haven't,Could someone tell me where it's located And how much it cost? And most important of all,How hard is it to replace?

Posted

is it even attempting to start? If it is not firing at all, you will need to check for fuel pressure.

I've checked for spark,That seems to be fine,It's also getting fuel,I've also checked the timeing chain,That seems to be fine,Car still won't start :x :(

Well,I've found out the plugs are fouled and need to be replaced,And compression is down from trying to start the car,So The plugs will be changed and oil put into the cylinders to try to bring up compression.

compression down from trying to start the car????

I recommend using basic OEM AC Delco plugs, not bosch. Not champion, not the brand they sell at walmart which made by brothers firends lumina misfire when cold. (at least less than it did before was all he cared about... lol)

A/C Delco plugs? Wow,I was told that these engines specificaly call for the bosch plugs. What's the part # for the A/C plugs?
