Crazy K Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 column or floor? can the plate with the numbers have been changed? You need to see if the car is still there and get pics! and verify the tranny if you can. Quote
GP1138 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 column or floor? can the plate with the numbers have been changed? You need to see if the car is still there and get pics! and verify the tranny if you can. My thing is, why would anyone do that? And it looked factory. I'll go back and get pics sometime after the holidays. I just hope they haven't crushed it. Quote
Crazy K Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 could somone have swapped in an earlier production year part? make sure you check the tranny itself as well! Quote
chadz34 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 I wouldn't doubt it has a 3 speed. I've seen some f'ed up stuff. One car with a 3 speed isn't that shocking. Quote
jfusco8102 Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 Thank you all for hijaking my ask for help. Quote
GP1138 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Thank you all for hijaking my ask for help. Sorry man. You're right. Quote
Crazy K Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 since the fluid and filter change has the problem reoccurred? Quote
jfusco8102 Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 It reoccurred yesterday afternoon. I unpluged the TCC last night and i will see if that helps with the problem. Quote
Crazy K Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 That would be the next step. Sorry for the hijack. However, I've read that it is next to impossible to move a car right after a locked TCC causes a stall. When you throw it in gear the tranny is coupled to the engine such that you would either have to peel rubber from 0 to 15 (requiring you to rev like mad). As for other thoughts and causes... Again I mention, I had a similar issue with a car and it turned out to be a kinked fuel line. You might inspect the lines near the enige and around the fuel filter and tank(mine was kinked by someone changing a fuel filter. (I had to rev it to 4000 and slam it into gear to get it to move again, but not sure why) On another car the fuel pump was losing pressure(weak, worn out) and the car would stall when warmed up at stop signs and such. But it would restart and run fine and no extra engine revs were required to move again. I recommend inspecting or replacing you fuel filter, and even your air filter, assuming may not have. (and careful, don't kink the line) Please let us know if the issue reoccurres. Quote
jfusco8102 Posted December 20, 2005 Author Report Posted December 20, 2005 My wife got home this evening from work and says that since i unplugged the tcc, the car has never run this good. Quote
cutlassdude96 Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 the tcc is a common problem on these 3sp Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 Yup, the silenoid goes out, well, on the 3 speed grand ams, but it goes out and doesnt dis engauge the TCC and causes the stalling at stops Quote
jfusco8102 Posted December 26, 2005 Author Report Posted December 26, 2005 Well it has been almost 2 weeks since i unhooked the tcc and the car drives like it is brand new. The gas miliage has actually gotten better. Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 Mabye try that selinoid, i dont think there too horrible exspensive and would prolly solve the problem, but it seems like you dont care any how Quote
jfusco8102 Posted December 27, 2005 Author Report Posted December 27, 2005 I would prefer not to tempt fate by tearing into the side of the tranny to replace it. It seems like, as long as i monitor the fluid in the tranny all should be fine. Correct me if I am wrong on that. Quote
