brianteel Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 does anyone know how to make a converter to take the analog signal and make it the digital signal needed to run the digi dash Quote

stockgp Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 no he means he needs something to convert the obdII tach signal to run the ub3 Quote
Crazy K Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 brianteel, what vehicle is this going into and what didgidash do you have? (ie CS UB3 digi-cluster?) Quote
Intlcutlass Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 I was under the impression that signal was analog. It is made digital by the cluster itself? Quote
brianteel Posted December 15, 2005 Author Report Posted December 15, 2005 it is a 1990 Cutlass digi dash intl. i need to convert the signal that the tach puts out to a signal that the dash can read. i know of one guy who did it but does not have the time to make another......need 2 as of now and maybe more.... pwmin Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 thats what the question mark was for  Quote
Crazy K Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 what vehicle(s) are you putting it into? Quote
brianteel Posted December 16, 2005 Author Report Posted December 16, 2005 L67 going into 1990 cutlass int. both cars Quote
Crazy K Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 Ouch, I don't know. So it sounds like you have to make the factory cluster work with the new engine, then? Can someone put up a wiring diagram for the ub3 cluster in a 90-92 CS? This would help me solve an issue too. any other ideas? Quote
brianteel Posted December 16, 2005 Author Report Posted December 16, 2005 i know what needs to be done i just dont know how to do it....you need a chip prgrammed and a circuit board Quote
pwmin Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 well, then, youve come to the wrong place Quote
brianteel Posted December 16, 2005 Author Report Posted December 16, 2005 i figured that someone else must have tried i guess not Quote
pwmin Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 not that i know of. i hope you find out though. what is this for? Quote
pwmin Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 sorry, i missed that. doh! were going to turn this into 2 pages yet just from my bullshit. edit: and i did! i know who to ask. ill do that as soon as i see him. Quote
brianteel Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 i guess no one has any idea what i am talking about Quote
Crazy K Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 No, we understand what you are talking about we just don't know how to do it. read this thread. http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4551&highlight=rpm+orange+wire&sid=211dbf696c1397a711c170b208fcc9c4 Basically the digi-tach doesn't read from the white wire coming from the coils like a normal analog, it recieves it's signal from the ecm... I assume you are putting in a pcm to go with the L67 engine, you need to see if that would have an identical output to the orange wire menitoned... Quote
brianteel Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 yes that orange wire....yes i am using the 98 GTP motor and harness and PCM....since the signal is from the ALDL connector and the GTP does not put that signal i need a converter to conver the white wire to the orn wire signal Quote
