I've been looking at putting in an aftermarket HU, and I was wondering how I can avoid it sticking out and looking stupid.

smash the vent behind the radio, i'm gonna have to heat it and press it in so my in dash TV is flush mounted

break the part off where the stock radio piece holds the radio up. get a kit with flush mount or go the http://maptechenterprises.netfirms.com/store/nfoscomm/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=32&osCsid=7b4ec3b6a186a1f86f99876e12388424

assuming you have din 1.5

for some reason, the pioneer, old jcv, and panasonic fit in this way easily, but my new jvc didnt very easily and it wasnt the depth of the radio completely

retrofit it in the bottom compartment, 1 dins, look like ass in 1.5 dins slots.

Although i do miss tossing shit into that cubby.

Hey pabz, got any more pics of that install? I was always thinking of moving the dis to the ashtray area, and possibly the stereo to that cubby. Only problem, what to put in the stereo area

when i had my old sony i could get away with mounting it flush, but every HU i've had since is simply too long to use the flush mount bracket i have.

You think those slots are bad, try in the 1.5 gen GP's. They're the worst mounting radio slots ever.
