skiiirt
I have the 4T60-E hooked up to my LQ1. Just recently my baby has been having some stalling issues. A while back my car was dead as a rock and wouldnt start, then a day later it would. So we replaced the P/N safetey switch. Fixed it up good as new...But... After doing this I can no longer start my car in Neutral. Did my mechanic fuck up the install (maybe wrong part)? or is this the way it is supposed to be. Before this was replaced I was able to restart after stalling by throwing it in neutral and turning the key. I hate having to completely stop traffic to get my car started again. I am going to take the car to him next week but for now Im just looking for some answers. Thanks
Regal_GS_1989
Hence the name park/neutral safety switch, your supposed to be able to start it in those 2 positions only. Try and move the shifter slowly from reverse down to drive while holding the key in the start position, and see if it turns over. If it does, then the switch just needs adjustment. If not, than it may be a defective switch. Also, do your reverse lights come on when your in reverse??

Ya i figured so. And yes the reverse lights come on Gunna go play with the R to N like u suggested - but i dont know how well throwing my car to reverse will work out while im rollin down the street ***** UPDATE***** After playing with shifter, very lightly shifting it into Neutral from Reverse will allow the car to start in neutral. As well from drive to N same thing Is this a hard thing to adjust?
Pabz
dood, They should be easy to adjust, there is a notch on it that you line up. You have to put in in neutral, loosen it, line it up, tighten it back up. viola.

skiiirt
No, not the reason it stalled. I couldnt get it started without pulling over and putting it into Park The P/N safety switch runs along the tranny I believe. The reason my car died and wouldnt start (no click, nothin) was the P/N safety switch was acting up. It would run fine, then i would go into some restaurant or whatever and come back out and the car wouldnt start, had lots of power, everything else worked, just nothin when i turned the key No codes
