ns87 Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 Guys I have spent about 3 hours searching/reading all the posts for lowering these damn cars. I'm gonna list out the facts I've noticed, tell me if I'm right or wrong FFP rear coil over kit - Expensive/kinda work. Height setting screw strips like no tomrrow? Noisy? FFP front coil lowering kit - non existant? http://www.fastfwdperformance.com/ JC Whitney sells a front lowering spring for the newer luminas/monte which will work with my car 90 Supreme? http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductBrowse/refId-20004480/ showCustom-0/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2005865/ c-10101/p-2005865/ N-10101+111+1996+20004480/tf-Browse/s-10101 HT motorsports sells both front and rear kits. I dont understand with them, if I just want the front, will my shock/strut thingy work? http://www.heldmotorsports.com/WBody/Coilovers.htm Sorry this is the 10000th post on upgrading suspension. I know theres alot of postings that address things here and there, but I want the low down. are these things gonna be noisy or what? I dont know too much about cars, so point me in the right direction. Honestly, Id love for my car to look like TurboSedan. Thats the perfect look for me. Quote
GOT2B GM Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 As far as I know your best option for lowering the front is Intrax springs, or Suspension Techniques(discontinued) if you can find them. For the rear, you can get the FFP coilovers or Birchmount leaf spring. I haven't lowered the back of my car yet but I'm leaning towards the FFP's. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 i'm going with FFP rear coilovers too (for my STE). i already have Intrax front springs here waiting. i'd rather go with a monoleaf that lowers the rear but the Birchmount spring just doesn't seem to get the rear of the car low enough for my taste. a few people have also said it is rather noisy (or was it too stiff?) and weighs alot. ns87 Posted December 13, 2005 Author Report Posted December 13, 2005 Ok so heres my next question. I want to do both brake upgrade 94+ rear, and the lumina/monte front brakes. If i bought the itrax springs, those wil still work? Those strut/knuckle assemblies are identical except for the caliper mounting bracket? Turbo - is your sig with the Birchmount? How much does that run? bc coil over conversion is quite pricey Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 my sig is with the TwinDualCam.com rear coilovers (long discontinued/out of business). the front springs are 1.5" Eibachs that also came from TDC. Intrax springs will fit the '95+ front strut/knuckle assemblies no problem. i have a set of strut/knuckle assemblies from a '96 Cutlass that i will be installing for the front brake upgrade and my Intrax springs will be going onto them. yeah...the only difference is the caliper mounting bracket. Pabz Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 Birchmount --> STIFF as hell, weight is heavy!! no noise for me though. I think the previous owner of the vert rigged something up, the rear is considerably lower than normal and does not look like a saggy leaf spring, I will have to wait for summer to find out though. badassoldspower Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 Im a intrax / ffp person myself, and i have no probs Quote
GhrarhG Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 The Flex-a-form leaf is also a possibility, but I haven't heard much feedback about that one. I personally like the idea of the leaf. If its good enough for a vette, its good enough for me. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 Flex-A-Form doesn't lower enough. Customer Service is also lacking. I complained about it not lowering enough, and then he ignores me. Quote
pwmin Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 still having problems with them gnat? fuck. i was gonna get some people together to raise hell with them but never got around to it werd w/ turbosedan. if i were you i would go with intrax front and ffp rear. to fix the prob of the stripping, you can get another set of rings from ffp or held and use them to lock together. thats what i did for my modified helds. held mounts are junk; go with ffp. you can get koni's with held though i have front st btw Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 Well, after 4 emails gone unanswered, I gave up. I wonder how hard it would be to make a homemade fiberglass spring? I'm guessing the epoxy isn't the standard kind. Quote
pwmin Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 hmm, i bet its possible but may be a lot of work. i wonder if c5's lower using monoleafs. let me look. im sure this doesnt help but http://www.z06vette.com/diy_lower.php . all they have to do is take the bolts down a few thread or get a bolt/bushing kit. lucky! im sure theres someone else out there that makes fg leafs that could make one for w's. actually some good info here. maybe they could even do one for our cars http://www.landrumspring.com/pages/technical.html Quote

pwmin Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 we shall see if theyre even interested in doing anything Quote
cutlsp Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 we shall see if theyre even interested in doing anything Awesome man let us know Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 actually some good info here. maybe they could even do one for our cars http://www.landrumspring.com/pages/technical.html Don't they only make metal springs? I didn't find any fiberglass ones on their site. Quote
pwmin Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 thats what im thinking, lol, but maybe they can make a parabolic one that would be lighter. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 I'm almost thinking to just hack out the upper spring perch like I was thinking about doing before. That should get a good 2" drop. For some reason I decided that wasn't a good idea when I was looking at Joshua's pics of the upper spring perch, but I don't remember why. I'll have to look at 'em again. Quote
pwmin Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 hmm, yeah ill have to look at that too. keep us updated. not sure when ill get to look at that though. i emailed them again btw asking about parabolic too. Quote
AWeb80 Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 I love my FFP's and ST springs.... Quote
