z34_nut Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 Ok, so I found out today that I have 92 rails, and either 92 or 95 injectors. I definatly feel that I should update the fuel system to 96 injectors and rails. I found a BRAND NEW, never used set of 96 injectors, and 96 rails. The asking price for this is $200 shipped. Is this a good deal? Second, Is there anything in particular that I need to so to make the new fuel rail fit in place of the previous rail? I hate to get rid of the rail, it still looks just about brand new. The injectors have been replaced with-in the last 5-6k miles. The reason I feel that I need to replace them is the fact the car will stall coming to idle from a roll. This happens when the car is cold. There is also a *slight* hesitation from the bottom of the RPM range (3k+) from 75-100% throttle. I talked to Tony about this and he says its because of the injectors, he was having the same problem. Michale says he never had the problem, but Michael also says the car was tuned for 6,000ft...I'm at 600-700ft now. In the meantime I'm thinking about buying fuel injector cleaner..Does that stuff accually work? There is a Dynojet litterally 2 buildings down from where I currently work. I am stopping in tomorrow after work to see what their rates are. Quote
5speedz34 Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 You sure you have 92 rails? Because I don't know if that would fit on the 96 intake. As for the price I guess that's a good price, but IMO it's kinda high. I mean I would get a used rail if possible, take it apart, replace all the o rings, and take the fuel injectors to a place to get balanced and cleaned. Probably be cheaper than $200 in the long run. slick Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 The older rails won't clear the intake. You may have old injectors, but definately not old rails. $200 for the whole thing, brand new I'm assuming, is a good deal. I'd but it and swap it. Shouldn't take more than an hour to do. Quote
J Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 it'd be about the same price to send them all outa nd get balanced and cleaned, i'd buy it for that price. Quote
GP1138 Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 STP fuel injector cleaner does work, I'd run a bottle through every few gas tanks. Quote
pwmin Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 use BG44K. it really does work. it the best fuel injector cleaner by far. costs about $20 and you can usually get it from napa and sometimes other stores. then about every other tank, i would run chevron techron fuel injector clean through. run the 44K about every 20K. every time i add 44K i notice a mpg incr. according to my dic, which i know is crooked Quote
5speedz34 Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 I was just thinking while you at it you might as well have been retune the chip. Quote
corning_d3 Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 There is also a *slight* hesitation from the bottom of the RPM range (3k+) from 75-100% throttle. Have you thought about testing the Throttle Position Sensor? Michael also says the car was tuned for 6,000ft...I'm at 600-700ft now. The PCM will automatically compensate for altitude. It uses a barometer for this. Quote

corning_d3 Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 Ah, i see.. Makes me glad i already own a '96....... Quote
Spoon Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 I just changed my injectors a few weeks ago. Fixed my problem. Do a search a couple pages back. Quote
z34_nut Posted December 15, 2005 Author Report Posted December 15, 2005 hesitation disapears after temp reaches 1/8. TPS would be consistant. New injectors will have to wait for about a month...x-mas shopping hit hard this year. Quote
