Check the coolant reservoire for air bubles. Not like just the odd one, but like a steady stream of them. If you see a stream of them at one point, than chances are that the heads are cracked. When mine went, there was a tiney little crack in the space between the 2 valves. On one cylinder in the front, and across all three in the back. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but what you are describing is the EXACT same thing that i went through with mine. Not wanting to bleed, no heat, wierd temperature spikes etc.

he may be right :(

I suppose you might try k&W block seal.

No, i wouldnt put sealant in anything, it will only clog up shit, heads arnt horribly exspenisive used

I would get some HELP heater core plugs, and cap off the pipes to the heater core circuit, then try k&W. Keep in mind that K&W must be used after a system flush where all antifreeze has been flushed. This way there isn't really anything to be plugged, and the only thing your risk damaging is the water pump. you have to let the system air dry for a day, and then flush and refill with coolant and reconnect the heater core circuit.

You have nothing to loose and it might last a while. is is "permanant" metallis block seal, you know.

id say the heads to but ive had a problem very similiar but i wasnt loosing heat, ended up taking the heads off and the metal part of the head gasket that seals the cylinder was broken. but mine still spikes up once and a while and looses pressure so im bringing mine to the shop tomorrow. good luck and hopefully its not the heads, BTW where in mass are you located?
